The Institute of Operational Risk England and Wales Chapter is pleased to welcome its members to a one day event on Thursday, November 21st from 09:00 to 16:00, generously sponsored by Mazars.
Don’t miss this dedicated one-day Governance event! – Marking the first time the IOR has dedicated a whole day to the subject of Governance – this event provides an opportunity to explore the positive benefits that effective governance can bring to the whole organisation and the issues associated with bad governance practices.
Taking a ‘journey’ through Governance and beginning with an exploration of the term Governance itself. Used by many but perhaps often misunderstood to the cost of the organisation. Exploring the distinction between Governance and Management and how Governance can be made effective throughout the whole organisation. Also considering many factors along the way such as: How important is strong Leadership? What controls can be put in place? Who is accountable, to whom and for what?
The event also provides an opportunity to hear about the recent BSI publication – the first British Standard in Governance (BS13500) – from those who were involved in writing the standard, including several members of the IOR.
There is an impressive list of presenters for the seminar including:
- Caroline Oliver, Chair of the UK Policy Governance Association and Chief Executive of Good to Govern
- Steve Daniels, Lead Client Principal EMEA, HP Enterprise Security Services
- Richard Baker, Director, Caerus Consulting
- Michael Faber, Chair of BSI Technical Committee responsible for the Governance Standard and IOR Member of Council
- Paul Hopkin, Technical Director, Airmic
- Head of Compliance, Mazars
The event is free to IOR members. There will be a £100 charge to non-members.
